Clerc Icon 8 Dual Time Swiss Made Automatic Watch (Decorated Swiss ETA 2892-A2)

Description: On offer is a Clerc 8 dual time Swiss automatic watch from my extensive fine Swiss timepiece collection. Clerc watches was founded by the esteemed brand's namesake (Gerald Clerc) in 1874 in Geneva Switzerland. The company experienced a notable rebirth within the Haute Horology segment of the Swiss watch industry in the mid 2000's securing a bevy of celebrity "friend's of the brand" as the face of its high visibility marketing campaigns. Like many other lauded brands within the highly competitive Swiss watch industry, the relaunch of the Clerc brand proved to be short lived. While the Clerc brand's run was brief, it can however be said that its watches were and are of the highest levels of watchmaking and design ingenuity. The Icon 8 series yielded an impressive array of unique and high end characteristics while boasting a host of various complications. This Icon 8 which I am offering for acquisition is beautiful and the watch itself which was superbly executed by its designer(s) is in excellent shape as the timepiece has been rarely worn. While the watch is a dual time zone complication I however never figured out how to set the second timezone. I know this feature works and operates as it should and have discovered that I am not the only owner of this particular model who has experienced the same frustration. The heart of this timepiece is a remarkably highly decorated Swiss ETA (2892-A2 movement) as visible via the watch's exhibition case back which is in itself a virtual work of art. Whoever is fortunate to acquire this timepiece will likely be more successful than I was at learning how to set the second timezone as I have grown impatient with this endeavor. I haven't use for a second timezone feature in any case and therefore I have simply enjoyed the aesthetic appeal of the contracting colors of the watch's beautiful dual dial (the main dial is charcoal grey and its subdial is a pinkish-purplish hue) Please note that while ALL Clerc Icon 8 watches are well known to boast exceptionally high quality deployant two piece crocodile leather straps, they do however possess a fundamental flaw which is: "The section of the crocodile leather straps which attach to the case lugs tend to fray and wear thin." This issue is no exception with my Icon 8 as is clearly visible in the several images I have included for visual inspection. As replacement straps for these watches are difficult (yet not impossible to find via the internet) I myself have devised a work around by reattaching the frayed portions of the strap via an epoxy glue which has enabled me to wear the timepiece with no issues and little concern relating to the watch being securely attached to my wrist. Having explained this however: "IF YOU SHOULD BE FORTUNATE TO ACQUIRE THIS TIMEPIECE IT IS HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGED BY YOU THAT I (THE SELLER) IN NO WAY IMPLY, PROMISES OR GUARANTEES THAT THE WATCH'S STRAP WILL ENSURE SAFE WEARING OF THE WATCH IN TERMS OF THE WATCH REMAINING SAFELY AFFIXED TO THE WEARER'S WRIST BY THE FAULTY STRAP WHICH I HAVE DESCRIBED IN THOROUGH DETAIL!" Well I believe the entire story has been told and in summation "This is a beautiful Timepiece" to be enjoyed and visually admired! This timepiece upon its original launch commanded a $5,500.00 MSRP and considering all relevant market factors which were in play during this period of release in addition to the watch actually being a superb product, one could contend that this retail price was not at all unreasonable albeit it was ambitious. The price at which this watch is being offered by me is reasonable given its condition. Most other Clerc Icon 8 timepieces on offer are in fair-to-good condition with rare exception.
