Lois was born on November 15, 1919 to Eunice Lynn Wingfield and Henry Brown Wingfield. She was raised at Marl Ridge Farm in Hanover County. She married Williams Carter Wickham Jr., and moved to Hickory Hill Farm where she lived until 1985. She then moved to Marlwood, her home of over 25 years. Lois was an active participant in the activities of her community. She was a lifelong congregant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Hanover, and their altar guild. Lois was a founding member of the Hanover Historical Society and helped produce several of their publications including "Old Homes Of Hanover County Virginia." She gave tours of the historic Hanover Courthouse for over 30 years, and served on the Hanover Courthouse Committee as well as the Hanover County Historic Commission for 20 years. This hardcover book titled "Collecting the Confederacy: Artifacts and Antiques from the War between the States" is a must-have for any history enthusiast.
