Description: Columbus, OHIO - Deshler Hotel - 1921 - ARCHITECTURE: The Deshler Hotel was the showplace of Columbus when it opened on August 23, 1916, on the northwest corner of Broad and High Streets. It was designed by Architects by Holabird & Roche and Howard Dwight Smith and cost $950,342 to build. It had a brick and terra cotta façade of applied masonry in neo-classical style. It was described as containing "four hundred rooms of which three hundred and fifty will have private baths and the balance will have running water." It closed in 1968 and the building was razed in September 1969. One Columbus Center now stands on this site. This Divided Back Era postcard, mailed in 1921, is in good condition, but shows some edge wear. Pub. W. S. Harriman. Columbus, Ohio. No. 18586.
