Description: New cotton kanga textile in shades of red, black and white commemorating Simba the local Tanzanian soccer/football team in Dar es Salaam. The listing is for one piece approx. 39" (99cm) wide x 59" (150cm) long. The print is two sided [see pics]. Kangas are traditionally worn by women in coastal East African Swahili cultures. They were originally fabricated in Zanzibar but over time production moved to India. This piece was purchased in Zanzibar 2022. For more information on kangas see "Kanga: The Cloth That Speaks" by Sharifa Zawawi and for more info on African commemorative textiles see "Long Live the President! Portrait-Cloths from Africa" by Paul Faber. The last photo shows how these fabrics are traditionally worn, not the item listed for sale. DO NOT SOAK OR USE BLEACH AS THE DYE MAY RUN. I recommend washing in cold water with mild soap. This piece has already been washed and can be used immediately. I have more new and vintage African textiles so please see my store for other designs. Combined shipping available on all textiles. Please ask any questions prior to purchase. Thank you!
