He is shown here with Representative Cordell Hull Of Tennessee; Senator Kenneth D. McKellar of Tennessee and Senator George E. Chamberlain of Oregon. Alvin York's Medal Of Honor citation read: Rank and organization: Corporal, Company G, 328th Infantry, 82d Division Place and date: Near Chatel-Chehery, France, October 8, 1918 Birth: Fentress County, Tennessee Entered Service At: Pall Mall, Tennessee Date of issue: December 31, 1919 Citation: After his platoon suffered heavy casualties and 3 other noncommissioned officers had become casualties, Corporal. York assumed command. Fearlessly leading seven men, he charged with great daring a machine gun nest which was pouring deadly and incessant fire upon his platoon. In this heroic feat the machine gun nest was taken, together with 4 officers and 128 men and several guns.
