Description: Corgi Classics Macfarlane 1929 Thornycroft Van DieCast 1/43 scale, Model 833. In the late 1800’s a naval engineer, John Issac Thornycroft, started the Thornycroft Steam Carriage and Van Company. His first gas vehicle was built in 1902 and he completed the internal combustion engine in 1907. Thornycroft supplied 5000 of these vehicles for the WW1 effort. He also provided various engines for the Air Force and the Navy. This model was used for many purposes during the war, movement of airplanes, ambulances, troops movement, and various other, after the war it became the go to Van for Commerce specially deliveries. This particular model is part of my personal collection, it has never been played with and was removed from the pox for picture taking only. These models were built in Great Britain, before manufacturers sent everything to China for production. As you can see, the models have nice bright colors and are nice and solidly built. They make great display in a child’s room, nursery, or even train layouts. The recommended age for this vehicle is 3 years or older, however, I would recommend 5 years or older. The box shows wear from shelving and storage having been built in 1985. Please look at our other models of the Thornycroft vans in our shop. Thank you for watching!
