Crafted by MacIntyre in Burslem, England, this match holder dates back to 1902, capturing a significant historical event with exquisite detail. The front of the holder features a regal shield surmounted by a crown and complemented with waving royal standard flags, with the inscription: "In Commemoration of the Coronation of His Most Excellent Majesty King Edward VII and His Consort Queen Alexandra June 26, 1902." This was the originally planned coronation date, it actually occurred on August 9, 1902. It was postponed due to Edward VII’s health issues, requiring him to undergo an emergency appendectomy.This elegant design is both vibrant and intricate, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of the early 20th century. The rim an inset sterling silver band creating a wonderful contrast with the white body. The silver does not have a hallmark and has been tested to confirm silver grade. Measures 3.25 inches wide, 3.25 inches deep and 2.5 inches high. The opening at the top has a diameter of 1.25 inches. Good antique condition with no chips, some light wear to areas of the paint.
