The book is a wonderful 9 x 12, 160-page pictorial essay on Cuba, divided into sections based on geography (Havana, Pinar del Rio, The Mid-West, Trinidad, The Colonial Towns, Baricoa, Santiago, Varadero) with a final section of Useful Information for tourists. With text by Franc Nichele and photography by Michel Benaudeau, the volume has been meticulously assembled by two frequent visitors with an obvious love for the place and a genuine understanding & respect for Cuban culture (from Evergreen/Taschen, 2001); and a most excellent tourist map of Cuba, featuring a map of the entire island (home to perhaps 11 million people), along with more detailed maps of various cities & tourist zones (including Trinidad, Santiago, Varadero, Cayo Largo, Cayo Coco & Littoral Norte de Holguin) on one side, and maps of Havana (the capital & largest city) and Old Havana, as well as a brief description of this amazing place, on the other side (from Edicines GEO, 2014).
