In the 1940's and 50's there were many "nameless” ceramic facilities in Mexico making Disney ceramics. The ceramics were supposedly licensed through the Evan K. Shaw Company as some examples have been seen with Shaw paper labels. The CERAMICA de CUERNAVACA COMPANY (Cuenavaca, Mexico) became an Official Disney licensee in the 1960's. Cuernavaca produced some great Disney characters in the shapes of Wall Masks, Banks and Cookie Jars. You are bidding ona beautiful 9” tall Ceramic Pinocchio Bank made by the CERAMICA de CUERNAVACA COMPANY. There are no cracks or breaks on this ceramic piece, however, there is a small 1/8” flea bite on the top of Pinocchio’s left ear and an even smaller1/16” flea bite on the back rim of his yellow hat.The red feather is missing some paint where it has been rubbed off. The coin slot has a few blemishes from use and there is no longer a bank stopper.There is some remnants of glue from tape that should easily come off with cleaning, but we will allow the new owner to do that. There is visible crazing which can be expected on pieces of this age. There are multiple markings on the bottom of this beautiful Pinocchio Bank including: “Ceramic De Cuernavaca Mexico” with an image of a Cuernavaca Agave Tree at the center, and“© WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONSDERECHAS RESERVADOS” This Pinocchio Bank is in very good condition for its ageand displays very well.
