Description: Custom 3.5 inch round aluminum faceplate meant to be used on smaller lathes such as a Sherline Lathe. The face of the faceplate is about 1 inch thick. Basically, I saw Clickspring use one of these the other day. I went looking for one and couldn't find any available. So if you're looking for one too; here it is! 3.5 inches around, and the face is unfinished (because the first thing you are gonna do after chucking it up is to face it off and true it to your lathe and chuck combination). At 3.5 inches around, its as big as you can use without rubbing the lathe's way while using the spindle at the standard height. At the standard height; with this faceplate chucked up, there is only about a 0.1 inch gap at the bottom between the faceplate and cast iron way. The face plate is made of Aluminum and is turned down to about 0.7 inches on the end that is gripped by your chuck. This allows it to fit inside the standard Sherline chuck. Upon arrival, you might wish the mark your faceplate with dimples or numbers from a punch to match up to one of the jaws in your chuck. That way you can quickly remove or add it to your chuck and have it already trued to your lathe. Additionally, the useable portion of the faceplate is about 1 inch thick (depth wise) so that you can bore, face, cut, etc whatever feature you want into it and have it hold onto your part as snug as possible or with a bit of crazy glue or hot glue.
