Fresh or Salt water - Trout, Bass, Steelhead, Salmon, Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Sailfish, parachute dry flies, spun deer hair bass bugs to classic Atlantic salmon flies - you name it and I will teach you how to make any pattern you want to learn about. I've taught fly tying classes for over 40 years starting at The Greased Line Fly Shoppe in Vancouver, WA, then at Kaufmann's Streamborn, Inc. in Tigard, OR and finally at River City Fly Shop in Beaverton, OR. In all that time I've learned all of the WRONG ways to tie a fly so I can teach you all of the RIGHT ways to make an effective and durable fly you can fish with confidence and become a more successful angler. I followed up all of that experience by writing the book "Feather Craft - The Amazing Birds and Feathers Used in Classic Salmon Flies" published in 2017 by Stackpole Publishers. I tied and photographed in step-by-step detail how to tie 16 traditional and new Classic Full-Dressed Atlantic Salmon flies. Learn YEARS worth of technique, tips and tricks in only an hour or two. Here is how the class works: You purchase a class of one or more sessions. Each class is one-hour duration. We will split multiple classes into one-hour sessions each with time between for you to practice and develop new skills and note any difficulties to correct in the next session. Send me a list of the patterns and/or techniques you want to cover in the class. I will compile an agenda of what we can cover in the hour and then we will set the date and time for our virtual online class session. I will email you an invitation to the meeting. You are welcome to watch alone OR YOU MAY INVITE AS MANY OTHERS AS YOU WISH TO WATCH THE CLASS WITH YOU. One to one hundred is fine! Club members, friends and family are all welcome to join. I will tie the flies and/or go through the techniques you want to learn. The entire class session will be recorded and avaialble for you to download or watch as you like. I will post the video of the class to my YouTube Channel and my website after 30 days. I will also photograph the finished fly and send you in aa PDF with the complete pattern listing so you have a reference to work from. And if you prefer, we can split the class into two half-hour classes. This has been very popular in that I usually overfill your "learning bucket" then send you off to practice. Students master some techniques and are ready for more advanced methods. Other times there is a specific technique or step that creates a roadblock - in the followup session we can knock that down and then continue forward with other patterns or techniques - your choice always. Who else gives you all of this in one class?! Each class is one hour duration and is scheduled in advance and is non-refundable. We can reschedule ONCE if emergencies arise - life happens.
