This travel size original formulation No 88 was purchased on Jermyn Street in the late 80s before the EU sanctioned the use of many traditional fragrance elements along with their carrying agents. As a result, the present offering of No 88 bears only a passing resemblance to the original formulation. Like its noteworthy peers at the time (such as Hermès Bel Ami), the original no 88 was extremely complex, powerful and long lasting. The originality of its dark, so called ‘Victorian Rose’ scent has since then been much imitated through other “Goth” perfumes, but never equaled. Czech & Speake at the time was an exclusive, specialist perfumer producing very limited quantities. This sealed 15 ml vial is extremely rare, and will bring pleasure to the true aficionado and collector of perfume history.
