Description: Daguerrotype 6th-Plate, 2-3/4" x 3-1/4". The mat is 'pebbled'. Early daguerreotypes from 1839 to the mid-1840s have very simple mats, often with a pebble texture. No wipes. Original Seals. Glare from my cellphone camera. The cover glass could use a carefully good cleaning. ---1840's, going by the clothing style. That makes this daguerrotype photograph roughly 180 years old. Antiquity on so many levels; someone's ancestor, a glimpse through time of clothing styles, and last-but-not-least, a marvel of early photography. ---Kindly-looking woman, there's a sense of calmness about her photograph. Her hands reveal, though, that she's been a hard worker.
