It is cut off the bolt at the 1/2 yard length; then it is cut in half by the width the fabric. This means that the piece of fabric measures 18 x 21-22 inches. It is "fat" instead of "skinny" like the regular 1/4 yard, which measures 9 x 43-44 inches.
