Description: I have for sale a bronze medal that commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Danbury, Connecticut coin club. The medal is bronze, it is 1 1/2 inch in diameter and its in uncirculated condition and comes with what looks like the original box. On the inside of the box it reads ENDUART, INC - 259 W30 St., New York, N.Y. 1001. The medalist was Thomas D. Rogers. On the medal rim it has the number 23, probably no more than 100 to 125 medals were minted. (I belonged to this club from the late 1960's into the 1980's) The obverse shows the bust of Sybil Ludington, next to equestrian statue. At the rim it reads SYBIL LUDINGTON. Below the statue it reads DANBURY STATUE - BY ANN HYATT - HUNTINGTON. On the reverse it has two laurel branches and it reads COMMEMORATING - DANBURY - COIN CLUB - 20TH - ANNIVERSARY - OCTOBER 1957. Sybil Ludington (1761-1839) a heroine of the American Revolution. On the night of April 27, 1777, at the age of 16, she rode to alert militia forces in villages of Putnam County, New York and Danbury, Connecticut to the approach of British regular forces.
