Thanks Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is unfortunately viewed as a plant pest and folks try to irradiate it from their lawns. But this happy, yellow flowering plant is generous from tip to root. The leaf of the dandelion is not only edible but when tinctured is a very effective medicine. The leaf has been used as a diuretic and contains large amounts of potassium, so if you'd like to use it for this purpose the tincture along with the potassium rich tea will prevent loss of this vital mineral. Leaf tincture has also been shown helpful in balancing blood sugar when necessary. Fairly recent research shows the leaf and flower tincture has a angiogenic effect for folks dealing with cancer. As you can see this little plant has so much to offer, so go outside and celebrate dandelion for all it has to give. For those of you interested in the energetics of the plant, this one is cool and drying. Dosages vary depending on use, but I always recommend starting with 10 to 25 drops, 3 to 4 times a day, if using to manage blood sugar take before meals.
