I acquired two different Dansk salt and pepper grinders and was unsure of the wood and was hoping that i had one of the exotic woods. My first attempt to identify was with my wood working coffee buddies, well they were all over the map....so I finally went to the lumberyard where they only sell more exotic woods. Ken quickly identified this as teak. The partner said I should "cut" into the grain with a knife and see which way thevgrain went, what color the natural wood was etc! I took the owners advice on it being teak.... Condition: pretty grain,,well taken care of, all parts work fine firm twist, grinder works fine, appears to have little use,no stains on wood, clean, some markings inherent to wood, work fit well, yes a little salt and pepper may be included.i did not want to tear apart!
