The most noticeable issue is at the very top of the painting, there's a smudged dent (visible in photos). Aside from the mild wear, the painting is in good condition. Because the sides of the canvas are wrapped with parts of the painting on it, it doesn't need to be framed but this can lead to damage to the canvas since more is exposed without any protection. This painting will ship very well protected. First with a layer of glycine paper, thick epp foam corner protectors, 1/4" foam sheets, and gently shrink wrapped before going in a box. David K John is a well known artist and there is plenty of information about his work available from multiple sources on the web. His signature is on both sides of the canvas. Some people describe native art as "folk art". This is the real deal, he went to school and studied art, he studied his heritage, he was talented enough to sell art as a career starting in high school. This is an artist, a talented one. It's awesome he happens to come from a Native American background, but his work is something special and cannot be recreated by someone else the way "folk art" can. The the images and message he captures on canvas are distinct, original, and one of kind. Something that only happens when someone is skilled enough to capture the essence of themself and the subjects of their work and contain them in then art. 24x12 Inches Ready To Hang (I Recommend Adding A Frame), the art wraps the frame of the canvas on the sides, so one does not need a frame, but I think it would be nice. I don't normally chime in on items with my personal opinion, but this piece is really cool. His work is much more unusual from a western point of view. The colors, the smoke, and everything is unique. When I was bringing this out to my car from where I acquired it from, 3 different people wanted to see it and complimented it. I'd love to keep this one, but I have some pretty cool stuff and I have to learn I can't keep everything.
