Description: Absolutely beautiful original 1976 copy of the great Music of the Gothic Era triple-LP by the late David Munrow with his Early Music Consort of London, on DGG Archiv Produktion 2723 045. This is one of the all-time great records of “early music” ever made, and one of Munrow’s masterworks. Truly a glorious journey into late medieval music, with three sections, beginning with the Notre Dame school of Leonin and Perotin, who gave us Organum and the first examples of western polyphony, into the Ars Antigua of the 13th century, and then the Ars Nova, largely represented (naturally) by Guillaume de Machaut. All accompanied by a large and in-depth book detailing the history of the music and instruments. Truly a beautiful, wonderful set. The music is just gorgeous and the research completely fascinating. And this copy is just beautiful. The discs are all three very nearly perfectly mint and play flawlessly and just beautifully. The book is nearly pristine as well, as is the box, which does have some corner wear and splits at the two right corners, which are not at all flopping open or anything. Still in shape, with the splits barely noticeable. This is a top, top original copy, hard to beat.
