The door jamb that holds your Deadbolt pin is too weak; normally 3/4" thick. In addition, the striker plate actually weakens that area of the jamb because of the 2 screws that secure it to the jamb. This Stainless Steel receptacle backs up the Striker Plate and lets the strength of your Building Studs support the Deadbolt Plunger. Notice how the pin cavity accepts the Deadbolt Plunger and the extension goes into the 2x4 studs of your home. Installation is easy: temporarily remove the striker plate, enlarge the cavity in the doorframe to accept the larger Sovilok dimension. You may need to route a slight amount of 2x4 in that hole if your doorframe is too close to the studs. Then slide in the drill guide and drill the hole into the 2x4 studs. Remove the drill guide, install the Sovilok pin, and replace your striker plate. You won't even see our system is in place. Now, did you know that professional thieves kick at the hinge side of your door? The hinge screws can shear just as easily as the screws of the Deadbolt Striker Plate. Door Manufacturers know this so they recommend installing a couple of longer screws through the hinge plates. News Flash: longer screws shear just as easily as short screws, the diameter is the same! this side installs easier than the deadbolt side.
