The porcelain factory was founded in Rauenstein in 1783 by Friedrich Christian Greiner. Soon the Rauenstein porcelain became known far beyond the borders of Thuringia. After 1893, the iconic motifs of the Dutch Delftware were adopted and a series of beautiful detailed figurines were made at Rauenstein. Delftware from Rauenstein was made until about 1920 and was also exported to Holland, where it got acknowledged there for its amazing designs and quality. The Rauenstein porcelain factory existed until 1934, when it got closed and the factory buildings were demolished.
