Delft Holland Handmade Tile - 8 Pharmacy Medicine Science Tile 1980's

Description: DELF TILES 10 DELFT BURROUGHS WELLCOME COMPANY PHARMACY TILES. All of them are part of a limited edition commissioned by Burroughs Wellcome Co. and presented to pharmacists at completion of their training. These were offered in the 1980's and early 1990's. Pill tiles were used to prepare pills, which are spherical dosage forms. These are handmade tiles made in DELFT, HOLLAND and is so stamped on the back of the tile before firing. The tiles measure approx. 6"by 6". Six(6) of the eight(8) have the original paper description intact on the back. These are finely handcrafted Delft Holland and make a fine display. I have not scrubbed or cleaned the back of these because I do not want the tile descriptions to come off. They seem to be glued on the back. These tiles are in excellent condition. These were hanging on a wall in a clean no pet non smoking home. The hanger sticker is able to be removed if you would like to use these as actual wall tiles. These tiles would be amazing to incorporate into your home on a fireplace or backsplash. Few tiles are as distinctive, or loaded with as much history, as Delft. In their characteristic blue and white, with elaborately painted portraits and pictures of everyday life, the tiles, whether antique or modern, are instantly recognizable.
