Based upon an original dated 17th century Lambeth delft original in the collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) This punch bowl is exacting in every detail to the original. The Chinaman among rock motif with "snowflakes" was a popular decoration for Lambeth delft during the 1660-1690 period. This bowl, like the original is dated on the inside with the year of manufacture (1681). Marked on the underside with the MESDA seal, the Old Salem restoration seal (Moriavian) and the Oud Delft logo. The deep cobalts with black trek (outlining) gives this lovely specimen a striking appearance and makes it ideal for the collector of exacting handpainted Delftware reproductions. Measuring 8.5 inches diameter and 4.5 inches deep, this small punch bowl would be perfect for display on any side table or even as a period exacting centerpiece. Excellent condition !!!
