Description: Here is a very nice old Mexican coin made of .903 silver, in quite pleasing condition overall, measuring app. 1" across, with a plain edge. This classic patriotic piece from the short reign of Emperor Augustin Iturbide has circulated well, judging by its shape, and it has some minor imperfections as one might expect, but they are nothing too severe, as the photos hopefully indicate - mostly it is just honest wear, with some light marks. I have not cleaned or altered its appearance in any manner, and four of the pictures have been "enhanced" for clarity. If it has been cleaned before I bought it long ago, I honestly cannot tell - perhaps it was rubbed a bit, more on the order of a pocket piece. The coin is a little more silvery than the pictures might indicate, and this coin is identified in the Krause-Mishler catalog as KM 303 - the die is a bit different than the other piece I have for sale, without the little hook seen beneath the neck. The obverse pictures the nation's leader facing right, with the Mexico City mintmark "Mo" at the bottom left, followed by "Augustinus Dei Providentia", the date "1823" at the bottom. The reverse depicts a crowned Mexican eagle atop a cactus, and around the scene is "Mex. I. Imperator Constitut", with "2R J.M." at the bottom. Que bonita! $240. Please note I am always happy to combine shipping costs should you win more than one of my auctions, and I usually add just a minimal additional cost per item. Your business is sincerely appreciated!
