Strickler and Plumb both served as Kansas legislators and Civil War officers. Strickler was General of the Kansas militia and Plumb a Lieutenant Colonel of the Kansas Cavalry. Allison (reported on Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett while manager of the Daily Journal), William Dunbar (superintendent of the Gas Company), Gustaves Dyes (engineer of the Waterworks), Charles A. Marriner (California miner and chief engineer for the Arizona Canal, which made Phoenix, AZ habitable), Captain James Lawrence ‘Santiago’ Hubbell (commanded the New Mexican Mounted Volunteers in 1861, a pioneer trader, and U.S. marshal), Pillsbury & Co. (druggist), M.C. Willur (U.S. department collector), P.B. Sherman and E. Armijo (owners of the Armijo House, the leading hotel in Albuquerque, where Pat Garrett met Billy the Kid’s brother, Joseph Antrim, following his death in 1882), Edward Medler (builder), Mandell & Co. (grocery store), Robertson & McDermid (grocery store), Saint & Cleland (grocery store), A.S. Hardcastle (grocery store owner), D.L. Sammis (wholesale commissioner), Dana W.
