Description: Here's a very nice large DORSET- REX FIFTH AVENUE loose powder compact of about late '40's vintage. The case is about 3-1/8" square. The top has a lightly engraved organic pattern, which appears to have gold highlights and a lacquered finish. The condition of the top is excellent. The plain reverse has a few very minor scratches. Inside is a powder pad with printed DORSET, FIFTH AVENUE and an engraved powder compartment with the mark DORSET, FIFTH AVENUE along with some people engraved on the lid. There is still powder in the compartment. Opposite, where to mirror should be, is empty. It appears this mirror is easy to replace as the retaining frame is hinged and held in place by two small metal tabs. The compact comes with a cloth pouch which appears well used.
