Description: Offered for sale is a Very Nice Drake Blue-winged Teal Duck Decoy hot branded with a stylized "RP." I have had this solid decoy for some time and have not been able to figure out the carver. It was found in Michigan so that is my best guess as to origin. Although it is hard to read, it appears the carver's first name is Ray and the decoy was carved in 1975. This bird is really well done, and the proportions are excellent. The carver added relief carving to the wings, tail, and bill. Comb vermiculation is present on the sides (photo 7), and a strong raised wood grain accentuates the back (photos 10 & 15). The keel is still attached, and pen writing on the bottom is smudged but appears to state: "For Harry, Ray, ____ 1975." The Blue-winged Teal is in all original paint and free of any major cracks, repairs, or damage. There is a very small nick present on the wings as seen in photo 12. It is obvious the carver is talented and has been making decoys for some time. The head is turned slightly to the right, and the overall measurements are 12.25" long x 5.75" tall. The teal will be heavily bubble wrapped and mailed in a larger box with plenty of extra cardboard and paper packing material. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
