Very nice condition - all 3 volumes have tight bindings and clean bright pages - as if never read. Very light rub wear seen on front gold detailing of Volume 1 near the top of book. Very light age discoloration on the books white paper edges with NO discoloration on interior pages . The heavy cardboard and paper book sleeve is still sturdy and shows honest signs of age with overall tanning and a split in the outer paper covering located along the bottom edge of the box. Bernard Berenson was one of the most famous and influential connoisseurs of Italian Renaissance paintings and drawings. Born Bernhard Valvrojenski in Lithuania, Berenson would attend Harvard University where he majored in literature and pursued the study of a number of languages, including: Hebrew, Sanskrit, Arabic, Latin, and Greek.
