Description: A very nice ashtray made by the Royal Tichelaar Makkum ceramics company celebrating the famous Muiden (Mouth) Factory founded in 1702. Mouth Chemistry or Muiden Chemie International (MCI) was a powder factory located in Mouths. The factory was best known for its regular explosions - it is also the site of the largest explosion that occurred in the Netherlands (outside wartime). In addition, Muiden Chemie became known because the factory, led by then director Wouter de Vries, father of Peter R. de Vries, was part of the powder cartel that delivered gunpowder to Iran and Iraq through false destinations in the 1980s were at war.
