Description: This cycad is endemic to South Africa where it is found in the drier parts of Eastern Cape Province, growing on mountain slopes of sandstone formation and near seasonally dry water courses. The climate is very hot in the summers and very cold in the winter, with frosts being common. Leaf color is intensely blue like E. horridus. But, you'll only see this color with full, hot sun. In shade or inside a greenhouse they are often green. Leaves are longer and more recurved than the standard form of Encephalartos lehmannii. Cold hardiness is about 21 to 22 degrees F. In the desert only give it a few hours sun. ** Greenhouse grown in the USA, pictures are representative only, growers choice. Seedlings may have some slight imperfections but will be healthy and ready to thrive. Refunds or exchanges are only accepted with proof of dead-on arrival. Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns at all! Happy to assist. ***All Shipping is USPS Priority 2 day shipping. Heat Packs will be provided for free if needed. Cycads are shipped bare root in moss. Pot immediately on delivery in soil dependent upon species, typically ~50% perlite if growing in containers. **** I do have bigger plants available that are outside of seedling size.
