Description: James Bryce worked as a glassblower in Pittsburgh, and spent 18 years as a journeyman. An 1837 panic caused glass factories to close, and it was eight years until he could go back to glass making. In 1850 James formed his first business with partners and named it Bryce, McKee & Company. Over time, the company would undergo many changes in names and partnerships, and in 1882, the company became Bryce Brothers and was located in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Bryce Brothers Company was acquired by Lenox Incorporated in 1965.This charming compote can be used for serving nuts or candies. In Victorian times, it was used for serving jam and jelly at meals. 4 5/8” Diameter x 4.5” High NO CRACKS or CHIPS; Appears to have two black dots in the base glass that occurred during production.
