In the lower right corner is the stamp of the photographer, Ackad, in Washington, D.C. In the front row of the photo, from left to right, are justices Felix Frankfurter, Hugo L. Black, Earl Warren, Stanley Reed, and William O. Douglas. In the back row, from left to right, are justices John M. Harlan, Harold H. Burton, Tom C. Clark, and William J. Brennan, Jr. Signed photos of the Supreme Court are scarce in the marketplace. This photo comes from the estate of a clerk of Felix Frankfurter who served in 1947 and 1948. When historians rate Supreme Court justices, five of the members of this court often rank among the most important or best of the 20th century. These are Earl Warren, Felix Frankfurter, Hugo Black.
