Description: Postcards were a way for people to communicate 110+ yrs ago, have lovely embossed gold-gilt designs, romantic poems, and in good condition Item 486209 ◊ Early 1900's Greeting Postcards, Lovely Flowers and a Poem, Unused & Not Mailed Very rare and fascinating "Two Early 1900's Greeting Postcards, with Lovely Flowers and a Poem." Now-a-days, if your lover sent you a postcard to express their love, you'd tell the person to "take a hike." But postcards were the way that people communicated 100 years ago. They were inexpensive to buy and send. Greeting cards and the Telephone weren't "invented" until much later. Both of these cards have embossed designs … the height of fashion in those days. Neither were sent through the mail. Post Card #1 This lovely Postcard measures approx. 5-3/8” by 3-1/2” (13.5 cm x 8.8 cm,) and is formatted like all postcards of the time, with a divided back. The divided back, which tells us it was printed after 1907. It has a lovely rose design, accompanied by a "very romantic" poem. It was designed to be used in the USA or any other country, as it has the word Postcard spelled out in multiple languages. Quite possibly this postcard was designed and printed in Germany, where they were know for designing lovely and colorful postcards. This unique "Art Postcard" is in good to very good condition. The edges and corners are quite strong and unflawed. The front and back surfaces are very clean. Post Card #2 measures approx. 5-1/2” by 3-1/2” (13.8 cm x 8.8 cm,) and is also formatted with a divided back. It has a lovely purple floral design along with pussy willows. It too is accompanied by by a "very romantic" poem, and this card is decorated in gold-gilt as well. The card is in very good condition. There is a little bit of wear along the edges and corners … wear to the gold-gilt decoration (which is more obvious than on just plain paper.). But otherwise it is very clean. Please see all of the photos above to confirm the contents and condition of these postcards. This captivating and quite wonderful, "Two Early 1900's Greeting Postcards, with Lovely Flowers and a Poem," would be a fantastic addition to any early 20th century postcard collection!!! ----------Be sure to check out our additional listings for a number of other, fantastic and interesting postcards and photographs which are also being offered for sale this week by PENchantiques on eBay!!! 082324-Ns OUR POLICIES COMMUNICATION: We want you to be happy with your transaction, and GOOD COMMUNICATION is the key to YOUR HAPPINESS.
