Description: EARLY 19th CENTURY JAPANESE EDO PERIOD IMARI PORCELAIN ‘THREE FRIENDS’ PLATE #2 You are being offered an Early 19th Century Japanese Imari Porcelain Plate decorated with Hand Painted Underglaze Blue Cobalt Oxide Pigment and Overglaze Red, Aubergine and Turquoise Enamels and Gilt Accents, with “The Three Friends of Winter” – Pine, Prunus and Bamboo in a Central Roundel along a Shishi Lion Dog jumping over a Fence in Three Landscape Medallions spaced evenly around its Rim. We believe the Plate was made in Arita, Saga Prefecture during the Late Edo Period, circa 1800-1868, and it is marked with a Hand Drawn Underglaze Blue Seal on its Bottom. The Plate measures 7½ inches in diameter and its Rim is almost 1¼ inches high when it is resting on a flat, level surface. The Plate is also in Very Good to Excellent Condition, without any chips, cracks, scratches or losses. Please refer to the photographs on the left for further details.
