Description: Up for sale is a Eldreth Pottery bowl. It has a top diameter of approx. 9 7/8". Measuring from the table up to the top edge of the bowl is approx. 4 3/4". The base of the bowl has a diameter of approx. 6 1/8". Salt glaze, more than any other process, endows the pottery with the mark of the firing and highlights the method by which the plate is made and decorated. When the kilm approaches white heat, salt is thrown into the flames. The salt changes into a vapor and the vapor-laden flames react with the clay's surface to form a durable and permanent glaze. This whole firing process from the beginning to end, takes one full week. Brown flashes, iron spots, patches of thicker glaze from a heavy flame, and color variations from grays to browns, combine to make each piece a unique and treasured collectible family heirloom. David Eldreth retired 12/31/17 and it was the final day of operation of Eldreth Pottery. It has no chips, cracks, or crazing. It may have a stray scratch or two, but none that I noticed. This piece was hand washed to be sure there was no hidden damage. Please check out the photos as they are part of the description. If you purchase multiple listings, I will be glad to combine shipping as long as it will not jeopardize the item's safety. Some glass items or large items cannot be combined. I am happy to provide you with a shipping quote before purchasing. Please wait until you receive my invoice with adjusted shipping before paying. If you do not wait, I will be unable to refund the extra shipping as ebay also takes a fee out of shipping that they do not refund me when I refund you.
