BiographyBorn January 31, 1916, in Boston, MA, Eleanor Claflin Williams attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. Over fifty years she painted as El Williams, Claffy Williams or simply Claffy. She resided in Dover, MA from 1940 - 1980 with her husband Thomas B. Williams (1910 - 2000) and four children before moving to Cohasset, MA until her death in 2008. In 2001 she married William Ladd (1911 - 2009.)In addition to her own pursuits in painting, she volunteered as a gallery educational instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA in the Asiatic, Egyptian, Classical and American Painting departments. She periodically lectured on contemporary painting at various venues. Her dedication as a Board member to the expansion of the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, MA allowed the center to offer many more opportunities to the community.
