When you hear the tones coming out of his red Strat® you're hearing his signature EMG Pro Series system: the DG20. This set utilizes our ivory Alnico loaded SA single coil pickups, an EXG Guitar Expander for increased treble and bass frequencies, and an SPC presence control to enhance your Strat's earthiness and mid-range. The system comes prewired on a custom 11-hole 3 Ply Pickguard. Available in three different colors; the classic White Pearl Pickguard with ivory pickups, the 'Eclipse' version with a Black Pickguard and ivory pickups, and the 'Total Eclipse' featuring a Black Pickguard with black pickups. SPC The SPC or "Strat Presence Control" is often called the fat control. The original intent of the SPC was to allow guitar players to boost the midrange of their single coil pickup to give it a sound similar to a humbucker. This is accomplished by boosting the gain in a broad mid-band fashion and reducing the highs. The result is a fatter, louder tone from any single coil pickup, but can also be used with a humbucker to increase your overall volume and midrange for a really fat tone that's great for slide guitar. EXG For exceptional flexibility in tone at your fingertips, there is no better choice than the EXG Guitar Expander. The frequency response of the EXG is similar to a typical guitar amp equalization. The lows and highs are boosted while the midrange is dipped out as you turn the knob up. The result is a fuller tone that doesn't get muddy, keeping your sound clean and clear, and letting your guitar stand out in the mix. This sounds great with single coils, P90s and humbuckers - giving each a whole new frequency response and tonal options.
