Description: Emil Bisttram (1895-1976) Encaustic Hard Edge Geometric Abstraction, 1944 Done in 1944, during his prime "Transcendental Painting Group" years, this hard-edge geometric abstraction by Emil Bisttram is based on sacred geometry. Title: Untitled, 1944Media: Encaustic on PaperSize: 14" x 11"Date: 1944Condition: Excellent; No losses, No conservation, No old mounting tape (never framed before), Vibrant Colors (stored flat for years out of the light), Clean edges without lossesProvenance: Estate of Emil Bisttram ---> to Tom Summers ---> to Larry Boettigheimer (Frontiers Gallery) current owner. Tom Summers was an Oklahoma City art dealer who financed Walt Wiggins books on Emil Bisttram, Alfred Morang, and William Lumpkins. Tom purchased a large number of encaustics, other works on paper, and oil paintings from the Emil Bisttram estate before it closed out around 1990. I became good friends with Tom and purchased a significant number of encaustics, watercolors, and oils from Tom starting in the early 1990's and continuing until his death in 2010. Because of my extensive Bisttram collection including encaustics, and my knowledge of Bisttram's art, I was asked to co-author Warren Shaull's 2014 book "James Emil Bisttram: Encaustic Compositions 1936-1947. A Pictoral Monograph With Essays". This encaustic is one of the encaustics that I purchased from Tom Summers. It has never been framed and has been stored without any exposure to light in an architect's flat file cabinett. It is in pristine condition without loss or damage of any kind. Please check my 100% positive feedback. I have an excellent record selling Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma art/artists on ebay including Bisttram encaustics.
