Description: The item for sale is a round bronze Art Nouveau plaque by the artist Emile Louis Picault that was made in France around the turn of the twentieth century. The plaque was made during the lifetime of the artist who passed in 1915. Picault was quite prolific in producing bronze sculptural statues of people, primarily. The plaque has a number of male and female figures in classical attire in addition to various animals. There are trees and fruit as well. The plaque is titled "Aux Champs" which is French for the English "In the fields". There is a signature of Picault inscribed in the plaque as shown in the photograph. The plaque is mounted onto a mat board like square backing. It appears that it can easily be removed from this. The item is framed as shown. The plaque itself is in excellent condition. There are no dents, scratches nor other types of damage. There are no disturbances to the patina that is original and aged. The upper left corner of the frame had a liquid drip that affected the finish on the top edge and paper on the back. The front was not affected. The plaque is backed by a sort of mat board that has some water staining and grime. This has a minor effect on the overall appearance of the object as shown in the photographs. The diameter of the plaque is 10". The framed object is 17" square.
