Description: Epilobium angustifolium is a rhizomatous perennial herb in the Onagraceae family. Its native range is Temperate northern hemisphere to northeast Mexico, and Morocco. Familiar names include Blooming Sally, Bombweed, Fireweed, Great Willowherb, Rosebay Willow Herb, and Saint Anthony's Laurel. It can be found growing along roadsides, open woods, and clearings. Used for mass plantings as a honey plant, along borders, and butterfly gardens. It can grow to around four feet tall vigorously. It is upright with stiff stems with willow like leaves. The flowers are saucer-shaped, bright pink to purple. It prefers to grow in full sun with high water needs. This one prefers to stay moist, so a part shady spot will help on waterings. Zones 3-9 Germination Place your seeds and some soil in a ziplock bag. Moisten the mixture enough so it sticks together without water dripping out. Write the name of the seeds on the bag. Place the mixture in your refrigerator for 60 days. Seeds can then be sown on top of soil into a well-drained, sandy compost and covered lightly with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in filtered bright light and keep moist until germination.
