Description: Epistrophy by Dennis A. Williams Estimated delivery 3-12 business days Format Paperback Condition Brand New Description A deadlocked presidential election that triggers a constitutional crisis. A grass-roots movement to limit government mirrored by a campaign for voting rights in the nations capital. Domestic terror attacks that lead to military crackdown-all chronicled by an emerging independent journalism. Epistrophy examines these headline-news issues through three characters-a disillusioned reporter, a troubled community activist and a young teacher-whose lives have been shaped by a powerful political secret and joined by tragedy. In a turbulent time that feels like today, these three form a bond of recovery, resistance and renewal. Epistrophy also serves as a distant sequel to the 1960s classic The Man Who Cried I Am. That novel, by the authors father, John A. Williams, introduced the "King Alfred Plan" and chillingly predicted a generation of official lies and cover-ups. Author Biography Dennis A. Williams is the author of two previous novels, Somebodys Child (Simon & Schuster, 1997) and Crossover (Summit, 1992) and co-author of If I Stop Ill Die: The Comedy and Tragedy of Richard Pryor (Thunders Mouth, 1991). He graduated from Cornell University and received an M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts before embarking on a career as a journalist with Newsweek magazine, where he served as a reporter, national affairs writer and Education Editor. His work has also appeared in Essence, Emerge and Black Enterprise magazines. Since 1997 he has worked at Georgetown University as a writing teacher, director of multicultural affairs and associate dean of students. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Williams is married to Millicent Minor Williams and is the father of Margo and David Williams and grandfather of Makayla Clay.
