Description: Here's an original classic publication in the history of United States stamp collecting. This is ESSAYS FOR UNITED STATES POSTAGE STAMPS by Edward H. Mason, published in 1911 by the Handbook Committee of the American Philatelic Society (at that time of Cambridge, MA). In a 4-1/2" by 6-1/2" softbound format of 90 pages, the book discusses all that was known at the time about United States essays for general issues, department stamps, registered seals, newspaper stamps, letter stamps, and postal packet stamps. Also included, tipped in, is the 1912 publication entitled MORE ESSAYS FOR UNITED STATES POSTAGE STAMPS by Mason and published by Percy McGraw Mann of Philadelphia, a 16-page addendum to the book that isn't always seen with the original. Cover has a 1" corner missing and an upper left spine repair but staples and binding are still fresh, pages are white and flexible and book is very nice except for the cover issues. The tipped-in addendum is Very Fine. Item shown is one you will receive. From a non-smoking environment. I will combine shipping if multiple lots of mine are acquired.
