Description: I picked this fine shawl up awhile ago from an estate of a well-known midwest artist, with strong ties to Mexico. He had the most exquisite and unusual things - and his wife - had a few of these unusual shawls.... This is a massive, fringed, textile treasure. All done in a rich woven black...with elaborate bottom lace and fringe and embroidery. Elegant and unusual - it certainly has a cultured and rich presence. The shawl has no tags, however, I think it's likely Mexican or South American, most likely hand-loomed cotton with a touch of flax. The hand of the fabric is slightly coarse, like linen and cotton, it is not as soft as silk or cashmere. It will be wonderful with many styles. The fringe and lace is most likely hand-knotted. I think it would be a welcome addition to any shawl collection, Western/Southwestern Santa Fe ensemble. For those who appreciate the fine and unusual....a great piece.....you're welcome to return it if you're not happy. You may enjoy our other fine items, we're currently listing many special things.... 26 inches across and 82 inches long (including knotting, but not fringe....fringe is 4inches on each side) Inventory code:OCT10-13-BIN185 Please let me know if you have any questions.
