Description: Overall, this set is in Excellent Condition for its age. No chips or cracks to the porcelain. The paint decoration shows only minor wear in places. The gold handles show a bit more wear. Through research, I believe this set was made between. 1911-1921. Both the plate and the jar are marked with the green RC backstamp, which has been dated from 1911 and likely used until 1921, when they were required to use "Japan" or "Made in Japan" in place of "Nippon". Plate is 6" in diameter Jar is 3 1/4" in diameter and 4" tall Weighs 1 lb The jar was made to present and serve jelly, jam, or a container of condensed milk at the table. The large circular opening in the base facilitates removal of the condiment-filled glass or tin by enabling the user to push up through the hole to raise it high enough to be easily grasped and lifted out.
