Description: EXCELLENT WWII WESTERN L77 FIGHTING KNIFE W/ORIGINAL SHEATH. Although the Western L77 was not a U. S. military issue knife, per se, they were used by some of the Marine Corps Raiders prior to the issuance of the Raider Stiletto made by the Camillus Cutlery Company. Western L77's were sold in military post exchanges (PX's) and were purchased by many servicemen as personal fighting knives. They were made with both steel and brown Bakelite (plastic) guards and pommels. Or, in some cases like this knife, with a combination of the two. As shown by the photos, this knife is in excellent condition with a steel guard and brown Bakelite pommel. The blade is properly stamped, "WESTERN/BOULDER, COLO./PAT.NO,1,267,479" and shows what may be very light sharpening marks. It comes with its original sheath. If you have any questions, please ask before buying or making an offer. Thanks.
