Description: DESCRIPTION: Top Quality Eastern Zhou Dynasty Jade Bi Extremely pretty example intricately carved on both sides. Both surfaces are convex and draw to a narrow edge on the inner and outer boundaries. A plain boarder encircles both of these edges and the main surfaces are decorated with rows of small, interlinked scrolls. An almost identical ring was found at Henan Hui xian Guweicun, making it possible to definitively date this form and its decoration to the fourth or third century, B.C. Another similar example is pictured in Rowson's, Chinese Jade, page 19. Cream, tan, and brown Jade with a fine old smooth polish. Some minor surface alteration consistent with age. Most notable probably is his depiction of Marilyn Monroe in his 'Red Kimono', 1975, published as the centerfold in Roger Taylor's anthology Marilyn in Art (1984).
