Description: This exquisite third-quarter 19th-century solid medium-coloured oak sideboard buffet forms part of the Gothic Revival style that took hold in England in reaction to the stark neoclassicism styles that had been popular since the late 18th century. It has all of the design hallmarks of this style, with trefoil and quatrefoil motifs, Fleur-de-lis, turned spindles, and four elaborate hand-carved monograms in the Old English style. It is scarce; very few of these have survived intact, especially in such a pristine condition. This precious antique masterpiece is an ardent collector’s dream. Dated at around 1870, and given its flawless condition, the estimated professionally appraised affirmed resale value is between $4,500 and $6,500 in today's market. So the asking price of $3,000 is well below its current market value.
