Description: Name: Asaphellus sp.Age: Lower OrdovicianFormation: Tremadocian (Eastern Cordillera Formation)Location: Northwest ArgentinaSize: Trilobite is 2.8 inches long! I found a flat in storage marked "Trilobites - Tucson '95" which contained a handful of trilobites from Argentina. I will be auctioning them off over the next few weeks. This is a very uncommon trilobite from South America. It is a very large Asaphellus sp. from the Ordovician of Argentina. This distinct trilobite is outstretched and has excellent detail preserved. This bug is inflated and displays well on the natural matrix plate. The aesthetic fossil has great, natural orangish coloration still intact - quite striking! This is a very nice, large example of this hard-to-find Ordovician trilobite from Argentina. Note: Argentina has now banned the export of all fossils. We will strictly abide by and enforce this law - we will not acquire new fossils from Argentina. However, this fossil was collected and exported well prior to this law, and can be sold legally.
