Description: This rare garcinia makes a beautiful landscape tree in outdoor zones 10 and up due to its glossy leaves and conical shape. It can tolerate salt air and short periods of dry soil. They prefer full sun but can be grown in part shade, so another excellent choice for a food forest. The fruit of this tree is prized in its native areas for supporting health and being medicinal. The seeds we harvest and grow come from a hermaphroditic tree. The fruit is small, round, and yellow-orange. If not allowed to ripen and soften, the fruit can have the strange and surprising flavor of garlic, hence its common name. However, it sweetens up with ripening and is quite pleasurable! We enjoy it at both stages. Thanks for supporting our home nursery. Please take a look at our other offerings; we combine shipping. We primarily use USPS Priority Mail and ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, and Wednesdays if sending to Central/South Florida.
