Description: This is a gorgeous pair - complete in two volumes - of Fables Nouvelles - Dediees A Son Altesse Royale Madame, Duchesse D' Angouleme. It includes tome premier and tome second. They are fully leather bound. They are by L. F. Jauffret and published by Chez Maradan Libraire in 1815. One of the more extraordinary aspects of this pair is the fore edge painting and design. It is very abstract and unique. These two books are filled with short stories and fables dedicated to the royalty. They are written in French. Volume 1 has 211 pages and Volume 2 has 210 pages. They have shelf wear and bumping. Volume 2 has a crack where the leather cover attaches to the spine. The plates on the spines appear to have been separated or very faded. The pages are all intact and accounted for. There is some staining to the marble decoration on the inside covers. There is foxing and some discoloration throughout - but overall, the pages are very readable. The binding shows wear but everything is intact! Located in the Granby shop in the display case.
